The Chili Peppers started off their road trip with a 3-1 win against the Macon Bacon, where the pitching and hitting shined. Starting pitcher John Girard had a great start, where he went six innings and only gave up one earned run while striking five out. The runs came from a group effort by Zion Taylor, Logen Sutton, and Jack Wilson, which the latter two did it through RBI doubles and a RBI single from Taylor.
The Peppers’ offense was even better in their next game of the road trip against the Asheboro Zookeepers, but they weren’t able to hold on, losing 13-7. The offense was an even bigger group effort, with RBIs from Jackson Woolwine, Cooper Clapp, Collin Hughes, Logan Janney, Julio Vasquez, and Jack Wilson.
When the Peppers returned home to face the Peninsula Pilots, their offense was still red hot, but they weren’t able to secure the win, losing 8-7. The Peppers’ earned offense came from mostly one man in Alex Christie, who demolished a ball for a grand slam, and an RBI single from Collin Hughes.
The Peppers were able to end the weekend on a high note, going on the road once more to face the Greenville Yard Gnomes, where they won 4-1. The offense was once again carried by Alex Christie who hit a three-run dinger, and an RBI single from Logan Janney. The pitching was also great, with Logan Tapman going three innings, giving up one earned run, and getting three strikeouts before the game was called due to weather.
