Colonial Heights, VA - The Tri-City Chili Peppers fell to the Morehead City Marlins at home on Sunday night.

Randolph Macon College's Hayden Snelsire took the hill to start Sunday's game and kept the Marlins scoreless, allowing only one hit in the first. Kasten Furr (University of New Orleans) kicked off the bottom of the inning with a single. A reach on error and a putout allowed him to score. The Marlins defense struggled, allowing a walk and a reach on fielder's choice coupled with an error that brought in another run for a 2-0 Chili Peppers lead after one.

Snelsire pitched three up, three down in the second. Greg Ryan (Longwood University) hit a double for Tri City's only hit of the second inning.

Morehead City had a two-run home run in the top of the third to tie the game up. The Chili Peppers failed to put up any hits or runs in the bottom of the inning.

The Marlins had two hits in the fourth, including a triple that scored two runs to give them the lead. Tri City batted three up, three down to finish the inning.

Branden Blankenship of Morehead State College took the mound in the fifth and allowed two hits and two runs. He was then replaced by Marcus Van Alstine (VMI commit), who finished out the half inning. The Chili Peppers failed to put up any hits or runs in the fifth.

Morehead City kept the bats moving in the top of the sixth, with two hits that allowed them to put up one run for a 7-2 lead. Tri City batted three up, three down to maintain their five run deficit.

Franklin Pierce University's Jackson Walker pitched in the top of the seventh. He pitched three up, three down. The final out came from an admirable catch from second baseman Ryan. The Chili Peppers batted three up, three down again in the seventh inning.

Thomas Greeson (Gordon State College) pitched for Tri City in the eighth inning. Morehead City had one hit but didn't advance their lead. The Chili Peppers batted three up, three down for the third inning in a row in the bottom of the eighth.

Old Dominion University's Connor Schumann took the mound in the final inning and held the Marlins to only one hit and no runs. Tri City batted three up, three down to end the game in a 7-2 loss.

The Chili Peppers will travel to Morehead City on Tuesday to face off against the Marlins on the road.
